At the end of September, the rouble has temporarily drifted off its trajectory observed since end-July. The change is attributed to various factors, including the tax period, which encourages exporters to sell foreign currency; some market participants may have also stepped up sales of currencies of developed countries ahead of the anticipated new round of sanctions.
