As the US economy heads towards recession, lower exports to the country have cut economic growth rates in Asia-Pacific. The economic malaise has spread to Europe and Japan, further denting exports from developing economies, especially China. This has cut oil demand growth. High oil prices and, in some cases, reduced subsidies have added to the slowdown.
