The implementation of universal health coverage, a backlog of healthcare investment needs, digital health plans and high medical device import reliance will pose upside risks for the medical devices market, while less market-friendly policies under newly elected governments and high inflation rates may hinder the growth of the market. High Inflation Poses Mixed Risks For Mercosur: High inflation and slowed real GDP growth continues to pose risks for the medical device market in Brazil, which has the largest population in Latin America and the largest health infrastructure network, as well as in Argentina. There are upside risks for suppliers of orthopaedic medical devices, consumables and diagnostics as the market recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic, while downside risks exist for suppliers of other equipment.
