Grain market insight: Production of wheat and corn to decline sharply in Ukraine in 2022

Ukrainian farmers are busy with harvesting grain of the 2022 crop year. According to data published by the Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine, up to 91 of wheat and 96 of barley were harvested in the country as of August 19. In general, almost 23.4 mmt grain and leguminous were collected from the area of 6.1 mln ha, accounting for 55 of fields processed with a yield of 3.82 t/ha. In terms of crops, a total of 17.4 mmt of wheat were harvested from the area of 4.3 mln ha with the average yield of 4.04 t/ha, while the harvest of barley reached 5.3 mmt collected from the area of 1.5 mln ha with a yield of 3.45 t/ha.
