New outlets help maintain heavy oil demand

Canadian oil sands producers are still finding demand for current output, while delaying project expansions. Recession and lower oil prices are slowing Canadian heavy crude capacity growth (AGM, 16 February, p3). But producers are trying to develop new markets in Asia, California and the US Gulf coast, on top of their major outlet in the US midcontinent.
