Slower demand growth curbs expansion plans

Chinese oil firms are postponing the expansion of crude refining capacity because of slower oil demand growth. Capacity will rise by 530,000 b/d this year, down from a more than 1mn b/d increase expected in January (see table). But the expansion of secondary refining capacity continues, as fuel specifications tighten in more parts of the country.
