The construction industry boom throughout the Mid-die East has prompted Egyptian bar and wire rod producer Beshay Steei to build a third mill in Sadat City adjacent to its current facilities. The new facility is called Egyptian Sponge Iron & Steel Co (ESISCO). The new plant will produce 1.3m tonnes/year of bars and sections, and is expected to be commissioned in March 2009. The equipment will include a 165-t electric arc furnace, a 165-t ladle furnace and a 6-strand billet caster.
