Effectiveness of WhatsApp Group for apple growers: A research investigation in Uttarakhand

Present research investigation was conducted among apple growers of the Pithoragadh district in Uttarakhand. Five villages were purposively selected and a comprehensive list of the apple growers who were involved in apple growing was prepared. The 120respondents were randomly selected from the villages. Results revealed that majority of respondents were middle age group having secondary education. All the respondents use mobile phone as a communication medium. Majority of respondents were using social media as WhatsApp, Facebook and You Tube. Apple growers were facing various constraints as technological, financial, communication and extension contact etc. WhatsApp message was on need based areas were send among the apple growers. Results showed that gain in knowledge was increased after implementation of message among apple growers.
