Copper, gold and iron ore gain on optimism

COPPER and gold have made some gains on hopes of better times ahead for both metals. Reduced copper inventories were the boost for the red metal while so far as gold was concerned, US economic data pointed to the possibility of interest rates rises being paused later this month. Iron ore was another on the gain, as hopes are held for better times in China. On the equities front, US benchmarks were lower in subdued trading.
