In Preparation for the Commissioning of its Plant, Pearl GTL Has Started Receiving Gas from the North Field

Qatar Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell announced on 23 March that natural gas from the sector of the North Field assigned to the Pearl GTL project had started arriving at the gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Ras Laffan. The sour gas is carried by a subsea gasline to an onshore processing plant. Units of the GTL plant are to be brought progressively on stream in the coming months. The first auxiliary steam systems and turbines have started producing steam and electricity for powering the plant and the first two oxygen separation units are already operating.
