Canada approves tiafenacil herbicide - update

Japanese company Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha’s US subsidiary, ISK Biosciences Corporation (ISKBC – Painesville, Ohio), has received Canadian registration for the herbicide, tiafenacil, along with two end-use products, Tiafenacil 70 WG and Insight 339 SC. Tiafenacil is a non-selective contact herbicide used for the control of weeds in crops such as field maize, soybeans, wheat and grapes, besides application in non-crop areas and summer fallow. The active ingredient has been developed by South Korean chemical company LG Chem’s agrochemical subsidiary, FarmHannong, and is being globally commercialised as a joint development with ISK.
