EU releases results of NGT consultation

Existing provisions of EU legislation governing genetically modi?ed crops under EU GMO Directive (2001/18) are not adequate for plants obtained by targeted mutagenesis or cisgenesis, according to almost 80% of respondents in a public consultation held earlier this year by the European Commission. The consultation on a possible new regulatory framework for plants produced using new genomic techniques (NGTs) of targeted mutagenesis and cisgenesis was run from April 29th until July 22nd.
