Canada cancels all uses of pentachlorophenol

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has cancelled all uses of the industrial wood preservative, pentachlorophenol (PCP), and products based on the active ingredient. The development follows a 2020 proposal to that effect based on a special review of the ai, and its two end-use products. PCP-treated wood is used in the country as utility poles, pilings, railway ties and outdoor construction materials.
