Bayer targets short stature maize launch in US in 2024

Bayer is targeting the launch of its short stature maize in the US in 2024. The maize line will be part of the company's Preceon Smart Corn System, which it will expand this year in the US through its Ground Breakers Field Trials programme. The company says that the system brings together three “complementary” components. They are led by short stature maize hybrids, which Bayer has labelled as the anchor of its Smart Corn System. The abiotic stress-resistant short stature maize hybrids have shorter stalks that are less likely to break and are more resilient to wind and other stresses. The harmonising components include Bayer's digital agriculture business FieldView platform and “tailored support” from Bayer and participating dealers/seedsmen, the company adds.
