EU to tailor F2F reduction targets to member states

The European Commission has clarified that the usage and risk reduction targets involving chemical pesticides laid out in the EU’s Farm to Fork (F2F) strategy will be adapted to the “individual situations” of member states. The F2F targets unveiled in 2020 seek to reduce by 50% the use and risk of chemical pesticides and the use of more hazardous pesticides by 2030. The Commission explains that there will not be a blanket 50% reduction target for pesticide use nor will there be a total ban, adding that the adapted targets are to be achieved at the national and EU levels.
