FAO study on status of fish supply and demand in the Near East Region and projections to 2015

The FAO Regional Office for the Near East (RNE) initiated a desk study to present a general review of the current status of fish supply and demand in the Region and make projections up to the year 2015. A Fisheries Consultant was recruited to carry out this assignment. The total land area of the FAO Near East Region which comprises of thirty two member countries is about 30.5 million sq. km., a continental shelf area of 1.3 million sq. km. and a coastline of 35 thousand kilometers long.
