Algerian Crude Production Will Have Fallen by 200,000 B/D to 1.2 Million B/D Between September and the End of February

Following the decisions taken at the OPEC ministerial Conference in Oran on 17 December 2008, the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines has taken the necessary measures to fully implement the required 200,000-b/d reduction in the country's oil production relative to its level last September, Sonatrach indicated on 15 January. The national oil company explained that it had already cut its crude output in November and December and that it had "taken steps" to reduce production further in January and February, with the aim of bringing it down to 1,202,000 b/d. Sonatrach added that the cumulative reduction at that point would be 200,000 b/d.
