BP/RWE Dea Strike Gas with the Ruby-3 Well on the West Mediterranean Deep Water Tract

The Ruby-3 exploration well (Ji 50-2), drilled on the offshore West Mediterranean Deep Water (WMDW) tract by BP, operator with an 80% interest, and RWE Dea (20%), resulted in a discovery of natural gas. The well, which is located 66 km from the Egyptian coast, was drilled in 920 meters of water and taken down to its target depth of 1,957 meters. RWE Dea indicates that it penetrated gas-bearing sandstones in the Miocene, as expected. The well is being evaluated to determine the volumes of gas in place.
