Energy Minister Announces Launch of Petrochemical Projects Costing a Total of US3.9 Billion

During an official visit to France,the Qatari Energy Minister,Mr.Abdallah Ibn Hamad al-Attiyah,announced the signing of a letter of intent (LOI) with Technip for the construction of an ethylene plant,or steam cracker,at Ras Laffan.The LOI relates to an EPC (engineering,procurement and construction) contract worth 620 million euros (US800 million) calling for the construction of a plant with a capacity of 1.3 million tons/year.
