Stoppage of chrome production in South Africa has big impact on prices

Uncertainty is still high in the European Cr alloy market, so deals are being closed within a wide range. Speculations amid no offers from either India or South Africa are only occasionally successful so far. HC FeCr (60?65 Cr; 6?8 С) quotes are at $0.82-0.88/lb Cr DDP versus $0.77-0.85/lb Cr DDP in March. Deals have been signed at higher levels, but most of those were for premium alloy with low Si (0.5 Si) or P content (0.015 P). FeCr supply is not short in Europe now, but there are some concerns over future supplies.
