Hoa Phat buys Australian iron ore project

Vietnamese steelmaking group Hoa Phat has acquired the Roper Valley iron ore mine project in Australia and plans to buy up further mines in the coming years, the company said on Monday May 31. The Roper Valley project, located in northern Australia, has a mining capacity of 4 million tonnes per year, Hoa Phat said. The project has a total marketable iron ore mining capability of 150-300 million tonnes for 56-58 Fe resources, according to the website of its previous owner, Northern Territory Iron Ore.
