HHI's dedicated FPSO building facility completed

A drydock that is said to be the first in the world designed purposely for construction of floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels has been completed at Ulsan, South Korea, by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). HHI has invested161Bn won ($119M) in the no 10 drydock, which is 490m long and 115m in breadth. At 13.5m, it is deeper than normal building docks and allows both topsides and hulls of FPSOs to be constructed simultaneously. Until now, hulls completed at the drydock had to be moved to fitting-out quays for topside installation.
