摘要

The norwegian NOx Fund, managed by the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), is responsible for bringing about significant reductions of nitrogen oxide gases harmful to the environment. Through the Gothenburg Protocol, Norway is committed to reducing its total annual NOx emissions to a maximum of 156,000 tonnes. The objective of the NOx Agreement - which applies for 2008,2009 and 2010 - is to reduce the annual NOx emissions by approximately 30,000 tonnes. All major land-based industries, as well as the shipping sector, are required to pay a tax on their NOx emissions. Following the introduction of the NOx tax on 1 January 2007, the NHO and 14 of its member organisations negotiated with the Norwegian authorities to reduce the tax to NKr4 per kilogramme of NOx emitted for the onshore industry and maritime sector, and NKr11/kg NOx emitted by those in the offshore sector, if they agree to implement NOx-reduction measures.
