More Space: French show expands

The new Hall 7 becomes the home for most of the equipment exhibits relating to pig production. Next door, at Hall 8, will be the pig breeders, other equipment suppliers and also the marketing services. Over 100 out of the more than 800 direct exhibitors for Space this year will be represented at the show for the first time. Early details showed these included 23 companies from outside France, taking the number of foreign stand-holders to 56. Additionally, 126 overseas suppliers were listed among the259 indirect exhibitors. In all respects, therefore, Space has grown larger - in 1995 its total of 994 exhibitors included 774 stand-holders and another 220 indirect or represented companies. Further growth also is expected in visitor numbers from the 81500 recorded last year. The international attendees reached a new record of 2800, from 55 countries, as the message spread that the show was of interest far beyond the region of Brittany or France as a whole. "The fact that French is the main language spoken at Space might have deterred potential visitors from other places in the past," says one exhibitor, "but they now know that we talk business!"
