Checks on water quality

Every pig unit should run checks at least once a year on the quality of the drinking water suplied to its animals. Poor water quality may raise health problems. At all production stages it also encourages excessive usage of water so the volume of slurry for disposal is increased. But the most common measurements of water quality relate only poorly to pig performance. Before investing in an expensive system of purification, therefore, you need to be sure that poor-quality water is significantly reducing the performance of your pigs.
