Lonrho to build Luanda (Angola) logistics centre

Lonrho, the UK-based trading, transport and infrastructure group which has heavily invested in the African continent, is to develop a dry port and logistics venture at Gra-fanil, Luanda, in Angola. The so-called Enditrade Logistics Terminal (ELT) project, which will comprise a 15,000m~2 bonded port area and approximately 3,900m~2 of space for support offices, will cost an estimated USD9 million to build. ELT is to be developed jointly by the British trading group and Angola-based Enditrade Logistica Integrada, which is a subsidiary of the state conglomerate Endiama. Once the infrastructure is in place, the site will be leased to ELT Luanda for a 20 year period. The main shareholders in the latter company, which has been established specifically for the project, comprise Lonrho (51), Enditrade (30) and Project Net, a locally-based project development group (19).
