Rich pickings?

Trade between the countries of North East Asia and Vietnam has been rapidly gaining momentum over the past 12 months and the first few months of 2008 alone has seen Evergreen, R Line and Hanjin Shipping Co. launch new services on the route. And these are not the only shipping lines from North East Asia to concentrate on the Vietnamese trade. These new services come on the back of a host of ocean carriers - including Cheng Line Navigation Co. (now owned by CMA CGM), Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), TSK Line, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Regional Container Lines - that have revamped or upped service levels to Vietnam over the past year. A closer look at these ocean carriers illustrates just how quickly they are assigning more capacity and providing their customers with more sophisticated levels of service.
