Austrian firm opens Hungary industrial CHP plant

Austrian paper and packaging materials manufacturer Prinzhorn's Hungarian subsidiary, Hamburger Hungaria, has inaugurated a 42MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant at its Dunaujvaros industrial site. The ?150mn ($169mn) plant was commissioned in April and fires coal, biomass and residual waste from paper production. The complex should generate about 280 GWh/ yr. Hamburger Hungaria previously used a gas-fired boiler plant to produce heat. The new CHP plant reduces the country's dependency on imported gas, it said.
