The fob Vietnam wood pellet price dipped slightly this week in the aftermath of some recently concluded tenders in November and early December. Prices have been on an upward trend in recent months as a private utility, Gunjang, based in Gunsan, southwest Korea, began co-firing with wood pellets from late August. Its requirements rose in the following months and it is still tendering for 600,000t from January-December next year. This additional buying interest from South Korea, the main market for Vietnamese wood pellets, together with some winter seasonal buying had helped to lift prices in recent weeks, market participants said.
