UK’s Drax schedules 2020-21 maintenance

UK utility Drax has scheduled summer maintenance at the biomass-fired 645MW unit 3 at its Selby power plant in 2020 and its 645MW unit 1 in 2021. Unit 3, which fires 100pc biomass, will be off line for 64 days, from 18 June to 20 August 2020. The unit is currently off line for planned summer maintenance and is expected to resume operations on 11 September. Unit 2, which is also 100pc biomass-fired, is due off line from 16 July to 12 August, meaning that 1.3GW of biomass-fired capacity will be off line for 25 days in the current quarter.
