Japan’s demand and imports hold steady

Japan’s biomass consumption for power generation rose for an 11th consecutive month in August,up by 1.3pc from the same month last year to 192,049t. Japan’s main utilities increased their use of biomass in August,up by 2.7pc to 25,991t,according to the latest data from the ministry of economy,trade and industry.The increase was in line with a 0.7pc rise in the country’s coal consumption to 5.7mn t in August.
