Last month's cover story explained how commercial liberalisation of countries controlled by politically restrictive regimes has resulted in tremendous cargo growth for ocean carriers. Egypt was used as the example. But increased trade to/from Egypt couldn't have happened without port improvements, and the way this has been happening also helps to explain why there is now so much investment interest in big global container terminal management companies. It is likely to remain for some time to come.
