Ambatovy on track to hit Ni output target

The Ambatovy nickel and cobalt mine project in Madagascar remains on track to achieve its targeted output of 40,000t in the April 2021-March 2022 fiscal year, with it topping 9,000t for the April-June quarter. Sumitomo, the project's biggest shareholder with a 54.17pc stake, said today that the mine is continuing work to carefully ramp up production and stabilise operations following its late-March resumption from a one-year closure triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. The remaining stake in Ambatovy is held by South Korea's Korea Resources.
