Europe stainless: Prices rise on nickel gains

Stainless steel scrap prices in Europe rose in the past week as nickel prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) continued to move higher. The Argus weekly assessment for 304 (18-8) stainless steel scrap solids cif Rotterdam increased to €1,300-1,320/t today, from €1,220-1,250/t a week ago. Spot activity for stainless scrap in Europe remained quiet, as mills’ demand was still slow.
