China: Ga nears nine-year high

Cobalt prices extended their gains today on a shortage of feedstock supply amid new lockdowns in South Africa. Gallium prices rose to a fresh high last seen in June 2012 on renewed demand from downstream sectors and continued supply tightness. Expectations of higher battery demand continued to bolster the lithium market, and increased feedstock costs pushed up titanium sponge prices. The yuan rose to 6.46 against the US dollar today, up from 6.53 at the start of this month.
