Although Russia's financial system has been far less contaminated by the US' export of toxic debts than western Europe, its economy has suffered from the ensuing global recession to a much greater extent. Instead of its GDP growing between two and three times faster than that of western Europe, it has slumped into a much deeper abyss, prompting many to question if the country's love affair with capitalism may be coming to an end. Or if it isn't, where is it heading?
