Philadelphia's Southport Project Inches Forward

The Philadelphia Southport Development Project, which encompasses the construction of a new container-handling facility at the north east US port of Philadelphia, has moved a stage further with the recent announcement by Pennsylvania's governor Edward G Ren-dell that four teams have pre-qualified for the proposal. These groups comprise: 1. Hamburg Sud North America and Holt Southport Development Corp stevedores. 2. Delaware River Stevedores together with its shareholders, Ports America and Carrix. 3. Mitsui OSK Lines together with its US-based terminal company TraPac terminal subsidiary. 4. Southport Development Partners. All these groups provided the necessary detailed responses to the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) issued in August 2008.
