ULTRA-LARGE DELIVERIES BOOST FLEET NUMBERS

A flurry of deliveries reported during April helped boost the world cellular fleet by 20 vessels to 5,087 ships comprising 18.5m teu, up 224,000 teu on the previous month. Three ultra large container ships were reported delivered, including the 19,224 teu MSC Oliver, which was inaugurated at a ceremony in South Korea at the end of March and which has now joined sistership MSC Oscar on MSC's Albatross service. The vessels are, for the moment, the largest containerships in service.
