AgResearch collaborating with NZ university on new class of livestock vaccines

New Zealand's AgResearch institute and Victoria University of Wellington are working together to address a lack of effective vaccines for the country's sheep and cow sectors using a new class of adjuvant.The university said although beef and lamb exports are one of New Zealand's major industries - potentially exceeding NZ$3 billion ($1.9 billion) for the first time in 2019 - a high prevalence of pathogens is causing high rates of animal fatalities, suffering and decreased production. It noted especially diseases like pneumonia in sheep and mastitis in cows lack effective vaccines.
