Texas Tech expects pheromone product to change pig breeding

A researcher from Texas Tech University has developed a pheromone product that could "revolutionize" pig breeding. Professor John McGlone, from the department of animal and food sciences and director of the Pork Industry Institute at Texas Tech, developed Boar Better - a synthetic triple boar saliva pheromone solution. The three molecules in the product are androstenone, androstenol and quinoline. This is the same molecule combination that is unique to boar saliva.
