MILITARY MUSINGS: 150 YEARS OF INDIAN MILITARY THOUGHT

The book is an anthology celebrating sesquicentenary of the establishment of the USI (United Services Institute) in 1870 by the renowned soldier scholar Maj Gen Sir Charles MacGregor, the then QMG of the British Indian Army, in Simla as military intelligence was also under him. Fifty articles have been selected by the Editor, Sqn Ldr Rana TS Chinna, MBE, Secretary and Editor of the Centre for the Armed Forces Historical Research (CAFHR), USI, who, in his own right, is an established military historian. Since 1872, the USI has been publishing its magazine every quarter and obviously by now has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and history on Indian Defense Forces and other subjects covered. The articles selected cover the journey from the inception of the USI Magazine, keeping in view the aim of the USI, which at the time of inception as per Wikipedia reads as "Furtherance of interest and knowledge in art, science and literature of Defense Services" However, post-independence, the aim has been modified to add "Research for areas of National security". The USI was raised on the lines of RUSI (Royal United Services Institute).
