According to the Argentine biofuel industry association Carbio, the group's members exported 118.IK mt (27K b/d) of biodiesel in May 2014, 14.5 times the amount exported in May a year ago, and up from April 2014 volumes by 141. Sources said that the dramatic shift was partly due to year-ago volumes that suffered as the EU looked into anti-dumping duties on volumes shipped to Europe; more recently, Argentine authorities have encouraged exports but cutting its own duties from 21 to 11, making the measure retroactive to March 2014. Further, soybean oil feedstocks were said to be falling in price relative to the energy complex more generally. Since almost all of Argentina's biodiesel exports come from Carbio members, data from the association is said to be a good approximation of official quarterly numbers that will be published by the government later on.
