Since its reform and opening up process started in 1978 China Foreign Tradeincreased at historical rates, becoming a major influence for many countries in the world,including Argentina.However, given the cultural and geographical distance between bothcountries, the new configuration of the trade relation was not properly addressed by ourscholars until recent years.In view of the foregoing, this study seeks to investigate,empirically, the determinants of the pattern of trade, the trade volume, the economicbenefits and the disadvantages that have accrued to Argentina and China as a result ofbilateral trade.For the purpose of analysis, the main figures of the bilateral tradeconsidering the period 2002-2012 were meticulously analyzed.The findings reveal thatChina has become one of Argentina's major suppliers of manufactured products, as well asa privileged destination of agricultural exports.The magnitude and the economic relevanceof bilateral trade between Argentina and China have been intensified within the last twodecades generating both advantages and disadvantages for both countries.This thesis seeksto give advice to the public sector of Argentina based on the empirical findings revealed inorder to enhance the trade relations between the two countries.
