Spot product prices were mixed in the week to July 18, as gasoline continued to weaken across the country, but middle distillates were varied, with jet fuel and others posting small increases. Gasoline prices fell following the US EIA's weekly inventory report, which showed a 0.2MM-bbl increase to 214.5MM bbl, up for the second week in a row. The Midwest and Gulf Coast markets saw little action and lower prompt prices. On the West Coat, differentials in the Los Angeles market climbed at the start of the period, due to a mishap at Phillips 66's 139K-b/d Carson refinery in California. Prices setded on Tuesday after the plant resumed normal operations, but at mid-week, differentials jumped in the San Francisco Bay and Los Angeles markets after a fire knocked offline an 80K-b/d FCCU at Chevron's 245K-b/d Richmond, CA refinery. The unit was not expected to be restarted until the following week. The outage overshadowed an increase in regional gasoline stocks. In the New York Harbor (NYH), gasoline prices inched down, while RBOB prices posted a steeper decline.
