摘要

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common bacterial infection affecting 8% of girls and 2% of boys in childhood. The revised National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines for management of UTI in children were introduced in August 2007. Since junior doctors are the first point of contact for most patients, it is important for them to be aware of these national guidelines. We performed an online survey to assess the awareness and compliance of these guidelines among the paediatric trainees in the London Deanery. A structured questionnaire was designed using online software and was sent for peer review by the deanery. The questionnaire was modified based on the reviewers' feedback and was sent to all trainees in August 2009 with a reminder a month later. The results were analysed manually using MS Excel spreadsheet 2007 and online software.
