Use of evidence based guidelines inevitably increases prescription of testosterone. National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance on type 2 diabetes and the Quality Outcome Framework 2013 recommend askingall men annuallyabout erectile dysfunction, a significant marker of cardiovascular risk. About 75% of men with type 2 diabetes have erectile dysfunction. Evidence based guidance recommends that testosterone is measured in all cases; 20% of men will have levels that guidelines suggest should be treated, and a further 26% will have moderately low levels, which cause treatmentto be ineffective
