摘要

Milligan and colleagues argue that the current system for cadaveric organ donation in the UK does not adhere to the principles of informed consent. The problem, however, is with putting this into practice. Who would take the patient through the process of informed consent? What information would they have to be given? Most patients find it difficult enough to get an appointment with their GP to discuss illness, letalone to discuss the pros and cons of organ donation.
