US driving up but gasoline demand down in Oct.

According to new figures from the US Department of Transportation (DOT), US motorists drove 270.6B miles (433B km) on roadways in Oct., up 1.6 from year-ago levels. Despite the rise in vehicle miles driven, gasoline demand in Oct. was down 1.6 (150K b/d) from year-ago levels to 9.095MM b/d. According to the US EIA the drop on-year drop in Oct. gasoline demand marks the first time in eleven months US gasoline demand declined on a year-over-year basis.
