Sources said that Asian paraxylene markets were stronger in the week to July 14, mainly due to bullish conditions for derivative purified terephthalic acid futures in China. PTA plant shutdowns and tight spot supply were said to be at work, particularly the extended shutdown of Hengli Petrochemical's 2.2MM mt/y No. 1 PTA unit in Dalian, China. The unit is expected to be offline until mid-August.
