Sources say that trading companies have been struggling with procedural problems as paraxylene (PX) buyers in Asia have recently been failing to declare a port of delivery in a timely fashion. By convention, when a buyer purchases a cargo of PX for the subsequent month, he or she declares the port of delivery by the 15th of the current month. Recently, however, buyers have not been meeting this deadline. As many as 10 cargoes did not have a port of delivery set by the evening of June 15, with staff at a number of trading companies waiting in the office until midnight not only on the 15th but also on subsequent days.
